D.I.Y. Modern 40’s Waves

Beachy waves have swept the nation by storm, but now it’s time to modify the look with a 40’s twist.  Modern 40’s waves are made by wrapping the hair around a curling iron, like you would for beachy waves, but pinning the curls in place like a vintage pin curl set. This look is best if you apply Oribe Creme for Style in damp hair, blow dry, then spray Oribe’s Soft Lacquer and brush through.  Soft lacquer is a heat protector and holds curls for hours while providing high shine. For best results, spray more Soft Lacquer while curls are setting. Read the tutorial below and let us know how it works out!

Wrap 2 inch sections of hair around 1″ curling iron. Keep barrel parallel to the floor and pointed in the same direction around the entire head.

Slip curling iron out from the curl and hold curl with other hand to keep it in position.

Pin curl in place with a duckbill clip and let cool.

After pinning up entire head, take out pins.

Brush out curls into soft waves.
